Oracle at Delphi Costume?
Ok, I go to a college prep school, so we do some weird things for extra learning. For History class we are holding a Gala soon and we have to make a costume representing a character from our history textbook and make a snack that has to do with it and write a page about it. But it can’t be a person. I am going to be the Oracle at Delphi and have NO idea what to do to dress up. I’m guessing a toga, but did they wear any sort of special garments? Any specific things that i need to include to make sure i look like an Oracle and not just a Greek girl???
The ancient Greeks did NOT wear togas. Nor did they wear white. What they did wear was a kind of draped gown called a chiton or peplos that was usually brightly colored. You can make a pretty decent approximation out of bed sheets (the one without elastic)
If you want to make it clear that you are the Oracle at Delphi, you could…
a) make yourself look really important and wealthy (the oracle was consulted by kings, after all)
or
b) make yourself look crazy: stringy, messy hair, huge shadows around your eyes, etc.
