Best open source replacement for Microsoft Word?

I am looking for a replacement product for Microsoft Word. I have tried OpenOffice, but its support for complex scripts is lacking. Preferably, the product would be able to:

OpenOffice.org handles complex scripts well, if your computer is set up to handle them.

First, if you are using a version of Windows previous to Vista, set up your computer to handle complex scripts in the control panel. Select “Regional and Language Options”.

For some early versions of Windows you need a multiple language version of the operating system to do this.

Second, in OpenOffice.org, select Tools → Options → Language Settings → Languages and make sure that “Enabled for Asian Languages” and “Enable for Complex Text Layout” are checked.

In short, your problem is likely to be with your operating system or with the way it is set up, not with either Microsoft Office or OpenOffice.org.
